History
The Bowfly Workshop
I was introduced to the sport of flyfishing fifteen years ago. As I grew in the sport, I started tying my own flies. I found this hobby to be both relaxing and enjoyable. Not to mention something to do during the cold dreary winter months we folks up North endure. I soon discovered allot of folks preferred to have hand tied flies in there arsenal versus commerically tied flies so, I started tying for them.
Being handy I am also an avid woodworker. This passion I intend to do full time when I in a few years from now. I will be retiring in the country in a small community. Having previously checked out the demographics I believe my services will be a welcomed addition to the community. A fellow has to do something when he retires besides hunting and fishing. If it is made of wood I can probably make it. I was commissioned to make several custom pieces of cabinetery in the past along with the average craft piece & heirlooms. I intend to expand my line once fully established to offer customers kits ready to assemble, for folks who are not so handy, I will also offer unfinished products they can finish themselves.
As you might have figured out by now I'm into hunting and fishing as a sport. A fellow always needs a place to store "his stuff" when not enjoying his passions. Being crafty I designed and built several boxes to stow my gear in. Visit my workshop to view several of these products. The pictures depict custom made boxes to fit individual needs. The great thing about them, they store everything you need. A fellow only needs to grab his box and bow or riffle and he is on his way. No longer will there be that question: Where did I put this or that? It is in the box. When your hunting or fishing trip is over, you just store your box for the next time. They have proven to be extremely beneficial at camp. They provide a space to stow your gear at the end of the day. For those of you whom have had the opportunity of experiencing a hunting camp these boxes will be a most welcomed addition to your next expedition.
Okay!! Okay!! So know I know you are a woodworker, a hunter and fisherman. I still don't get your logo??? Read on!
Well like the commercial on TV, a fellow must be open to new things. Low and behold I got into archery four years ago. Archery shops are few and far in between here in Nova Scotia. I got frustrated with supply and demand. The suppliers couldn't meet my demands LOL. Archery can be an expensive sport and in order to cut expenses one has to start making his own gear: strings; arrows; etc... The significance of this last point becomes apparent when one starts shooting tournaments. Tournaments can prove to be expensive on equipment. Last year the string on my bow let go the afternoon before the hunt, bummer! I purchased two new strings from a renowned manufacturer only to find out that they were both of different lengths. For anyone who is into archery, we all know this represents a serious problem with regards to shooting form and arrow placement. I purchased a string making jig and started manufacturing my own strings and cables. Now when I make a string I know it will be the right length every time.
Have you got it yet??
